We were visited last night by a ballet of Bat rays. Counted 28 of them, circling our boat. We are moored at Cherry Cove at Catalina Island, and they were attracted by our underwater lights. They eat small fish, crustaceans and snails , but they were just cruising. They can get up to 100 pounds and 5 feet across! Our lights also attracted a lot of tiny critters- tiny shrimps, algae , diatoms , which attracted the larger 6 inch fish, which attracted a sea lion. Also had a “flock” of about 100 4 inch squids In tight formation. If I had been able to stay up long enough probably would have had some barracuda or other predator fishes , as EVERYTHING loves to eat calamari.☺️
